Unnamed,

I agree that the open source suggestion may be more hassle than it's worth. If you're willing to incorporate scripting from others that would be great. - I've done some work on the politics aspect of the game, and although it can use a lot more work it already makes for a better game. All changes are confined to the Script_AI_Politics.txt file. If you’re interested in including my work please provide me with an email address so I can send you the file. I’ve done quite some debugging and everything seems to work as it should but I can give no guaranties of course.

List of changes made: 1.) Tweaks: (all tweaks are marked with // XXX in the source file)

     - Made AI much less inclined to propose technology sharing treaties (only 5% of treaties now as opposed to 100% when not at war). This will allow for more interesting game progression as empires will remain more unique.
     - Made AI much less likely to accept technology demands, technology sharing treaties, or the no research no intel allowed treaties.
     - Made AI suggest more varied treaties.

Suggestion to unnamed: I’ve found that reducing the overall amount of treaties suggested by the AI (now once every 5 turns for each known empire) is too high for my tastes, it makes the galaxy an overly friendly place. If you feel the same I recommend adjusting the “chance to propose treaty” value located in the [race]_Main_Script.txt files from 20 to around 5.

2.) AI behavior adjustment.

  - Reworked how the AI deals with players that get way ahead in empire score (instead of just fearing them, therefore giving them gifts and treaties thereby increasing their head start and so on).
 - Now when an AI empire is falling behind (currently set as others are at 150% of our score), it will propose a special treaty (the underdog league treaty) to other weak empires so they will share tech ect. and can catch up to the empire with the head start. Once their scores have sufficiently increased they will break this treaty. This works for both human an AI empires.

Main benefit of adjustment: - Empires will remain equally matched in strength for a longer period, without having to switch on the horrible Team Mode. - The AI won’t give you (or each other when their not falling behind) all their research, making it much harder for human players to attain super high tech. And when the AI is given a bonus it will fight you with superior tech!
