Welcome to the Space Empires Wiki Main Page Discussion Page

This page is the discussion page for the main index page of the Space Empires Wiki.

Primary Pages

Primary Pages Introduction

  • This section is to discuss what we believe the primary (index pages) this project should list on the index. Discussions for those sections and the items that will fall into them will be on their respective section pages. It is hoped that a treebranch format of development will follow and be the most logical, but I open the discussion here to decide what the best way of developing this main page will be. Please be sure to sign your name after every post you make (after you register of course) by typing in four tildes: ~~~~ which will output: Inigma 19:04, 14 October 2005 (BST)

Newbie Frequently Asked Questions

  • The first primary page I'd like to submit for consideration as a primary index page is a Newbie Frequently Asked Questions a port from the Shrapnel Newbie FAQ. Of course, it needs editing, and I'd like a discussion on its development to be on the discussion page for it in this wiki. I'll go ahead and take the initiative and create the base page for it. Game Documentation & Fan Documenation

  • How about a split in the documentation trees starting on the index page? Game Documentation would have simple links to the game version page, which would link to the documentation articles for that version. Same thing with the Fan Documentation, but only fan documentation that generally considered crossversion such as Player Empires and external fan site links. Furthermore, these subcategories for Fan Documentation could also be broken up unto seperate game version areas if players are picky of saying their empire is only an SEIV empire, or their site is only an SEIV site. What do you think? I've posted them as the basic format for the beginning of this discussion since no one else has said anything yet. Inigma 22:54, 14 October 2005 (BST)

Current index is fine

  • I'm fine with the current index, listing the special pages for SE Wiki... then a list of all the games, then a list of player / fan made things. Its cool.Markavian 03:59, 15 October 2005 (BST)
  • I was thinking about adding a front page link to the Categories page so users have a minimal "site map". Inigma 15:07, 15 October 2005 (BST)

Main Page Redesign

  • I was wondering, is it possible to table some of the information on the Main Page so its easier to read and more aesthetically pleasing? We could probably squeeze more information and important links in some kind of layout utilizing tables. The news and announcements would still run at the bottom, but I think we can frame/table up some of the other categories on the Main Page so it uses the whitespace more efficiently (instead of having users scroll down to the bottom). Does anyone have any suggestions? inigma 18:51, 6 February 2006 (GMT)
  • Hey, you're alive! A 2column template could be whipped up, perhaps. Gotta make more use of templates, just because. ;) Fyron 08:39, 7 February 2006 (GMT)
  • I've been checking the wiki here about once every other week. I'm not sure how to use official templates yet. If you have ideas, I'd like to see them. In the meantime, I'll see what I can play with. inigma 16:56, 13 February 2006 (GMT)
  • Could someone PLEASE do something about the width of the SEnet news feed? It's clogging up the entire screen! Ed 09:22, 4 July 2010 (EDT)

News Date Format

  • What format should the news dates be in? The RSS news and the Announcements date formats need to be syncronized. As you can see, it is currently: dd MMM yy at hr:min (with MMM being alphabetical rather than numeric)Fyron 20:24, 13 October 2006 (BST)
  • Actually... maybe I will just put it in the standard wiki format. Hmm... Fyron 20:25, 13 October 2006 (BST)
  • I think the format you have selected for the main page looks great. I agree that standardization was needed. inigma 20:49, 13 October 2006 (BST)

I'm a little confused...

Could someone explain to me the necessity of having the "All SEWiki Stubs" be a full URL instead of an internal link? MageKing17 21:58, 28 October 2006 (BST)

  • If I make a link to Category:Stubs, it disappears. There should be a link to it here:
Fyron 00:02, 29 October 2006 (BST)

Using Category:Stubs by itself places the article into that category. Instead, you must add a preceding colon, like this: Category:Stubs. MageKing17 03:39, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

  • That's some crazy voudou. Thanks! Fyron 04:26, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
I removed your "example," because it was causing this page to be listed as a stub. ;) MageKing17 23:37, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
