Neostandard (SEIV)

The NeoStandard is a set of vehicle hull names which is a superset of stock SE4 vehicle hull names. It is not a mod per se, but rather a standard that modders and shipset creators can use to maximize the overlap between the available images in a shipset and the hull names used by the mod. For instance, suppose a MOO2-based mod wanted to create a Doom Star hull, a Star Wars mod wanted to create a Death Star hull, and a Galactic Civilizations based mod wanted to create a Terror Star hull. Those are all examples of "big spherical moon-sized ship", so they can all use the NeoStandard Worldship image. Imagine the chaos among shipset creators if each mod called for its own specialized hulls - the poor artists would be up to their necks just trying to keep up with a handful of mods!

The home of the NeoStandard is here: [1]. There you can download some NeoStandardized versions of the stock shipsets.

Shipset Upgrade Tool

User:Ekolis has created a tool for creating "dummy" images for NeoStandard hulls, in order to fill out any missing images by copying existing shipset images. The reason this is necessary is that a shipset might be only partially NeoStandard compliant, and thus have a Corvette image but not a Scout. Since SE4 only allows one "fallback" image for a hull, and it must be a stock image if you want to use non-compliant shipsets with your mod, this means that there's no way to have the Scout fall back on the Corvette image; rather it must fall back on Escort - which is bigger than the Corvette, which of course makes the hulls look silly when compared in-game! The tool is designed to intelligently copy images so that worrying about fallback images is no longer necessary; if there is no Scout image, the Corvette will be copied for it, so scouts don't look like escorts.
