Ground Empires

What is it?
Ground Empires is a concept for a mod - one that changes Space Empires into a ground-based conflict over several "Continents" (systems), each with a central "Tectonic Stabiliser" (star) and linked by "Hypergates" (warp points)

Technology
GE covers things like machineguns, cannons, missiles, rockets and even ancient tech energy weaponry. Likewise, vehicles can employ energy shielding developed from ancient technology. Ancient Technology can also give the wielder the secrets of BattleMecha and Anti-Grav vehicles, which cannot use engines, but have high 'innate' movement than their groundbound counterparts, making them excellent scouts and passable medium-level tanks.
Eventually, players can even research and build terrifying ICBMs - mega-missiles capable of destroying entire bases in a single hit, or rupturing the Tectonic Stabiliser of a Continent - turning the continent into a devastated wasteland that is extremely hard to navigate thanks to unpredictable tremors.
